What are Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs)?
They are probably the ‘best kept secret’ in the building industry.
Preferred by self-builders and specified by architects, they are a modern building material that combines structural strength and high levels of thermal performance, making them ideal for DIY Projects such as Garden Rooms.
Combining an insulated, rigid-foam core, sandwiched between two layers of structural board, they are manufactured to suit nearly any building design and offer a flexible, energy efficient building system suitable for a variety of uses.
- High Thermal Performance
- Air Tightness
- Speedy Erection
- Minimal Waste
- Inexpensive to run
The thermal transmittance of a material is known as it’s U-value. The U-Value represents the rate of transfer of heat through a structure or how long it takes for a warm building to cool down. The lower the U-Value, the better insulated the building!
The U-Values of the SIP panels are show below:
100mm Thick 0.27w/m2k
125mm Thick 0.21 w/m2k
150mm Thick 0.17w/m2k
175mm Thick 0.14 w/m2k
200mm Thick 0.12 w/m2k
225mm Thick 0.11 w/m2k
250mm Thick 0.10 w/m2k
